A Zombie's Life
I wake each dawn with empty eyes,
Unseeing, dull. My thoughts are dead,
My heart no longer beats. I rise
And walk about, but not like me.
A zombie's life is not my own.
I am a puppet, not a soul.
I do not feel the sun or rain,
I do not hear the birds or moan.
I am a creature of the night.
I walk among the living dead.
I am a monster, not a man.
I am a zombie, dead yet sad.
I am a zombie, but I dream
Of being human once again.
I dream of feeling, seeing, loving,
Of being alive, not just pretending.
